Well I remember when I watched this film, myself and a marxist friend of mine both agreed that it was a metaphor for the capitalist system, with people being worth little more than their output as ghosts in a machine. So how would this manifest in Terra if it was a 'prophecy' (tho' revelation with books finished with Mohammad). Well if the film was set in the United Kingdom you would find that Neo was not the One, and The Supreme Architect was not a finite being, but beyond the Throne, Allah Al Wahid, that Neo was the merovingian, an agent of kether, a humble architect of 33°, and that Zion was infact Sion, the prieure, the ship.
My guess is that the people that wrote it don't know jack, but are trying to find out.
